Marta Silva is a Molecular and Cellular Biologist, with research experience in the field of organic chemistry. After completing her bachelors degree, Marta earned a Masters in Biotechnology and she was a member of the Portuguese research institute of nano and microtechnology, INESC-MN.
Marta is also a Type 1 diabetic.
In her weekly Type 1 Diabetes Journey column, Marta explores a wide range of issues pertaining to living with the disease and learning to move beyond its limitations. Her mission is to keep the Type 1 diabetic community up to speed on the latest therapeutic developments for diabetes, identify some of the challenges of living with the disease and how to deal with them, and talk about things she is doing in her life in spite of having diabetes.
